Entrepreneur in the Making – Business Plan Competition

The Commerce Department organized Business Plan Competition on 11th September, 2025 under the theme “Entrepreneur in the Making.” The competition aimed to inspire students by giving them a platform to pitch innovative business ideas. The competition focused on creativity, problem-solving, business planning, and presentation skills, encouraging participants to think like real-world entrepreneurs.A total of 7 teams consisting of students from Classes XI and XII presented their business ideas on stage.
Judging Criteria:
The judges assessed participants based on the following key criteria:
Innovation & Creativity – Uniqueness of the idea and how creatively it solves a real-world problem
Market Potential – Clarity of the target market and demand for the product/service
Presentation Skills – Clarity, confidence, and persuasiveness of the pitch
Feasibility – Practicality of implementation with available resources
Teamwork – Collaboration and role clarity within the team

Following are the winners of the “Entrepreneur in the Making” Business Plan Competition:
1st Place: Bio-Ink
Sustainable printing ink made from pigments extracted from green algae.
2nd Place: Requa-sportz
Recycle quality sports goods and gym equipments using torn cloth,worn out cloth ,broken wood etc.
3rd Place:Third place was shared by 2 Teams
Terraloop
A closed- loop waste management platform with tech, tracking, on-site processing, and sustainability analytics.

Report on Ecombat- An Economics debate
Ecombat – an Economics debate competition was organized as part of the Commerce Week celebrations in September 2025, focusing on contemporary global trade issues and India’s preparedness in a changing world economy.
Event overview
The competition, titled “Ecombat,” was held during Commerce Week in September 2025 with the aim of enhancing students’ analytical, economic, and public-speaking skills through structured debate on real-world policy challenges.The motion for the debate was: “Are global tariff wars accelerating the pace of de-globalization and is India ready for it?”, encouraging participants to examine global protectionist trends, disruptions to trade, and India’s strategic response in terms of exports, resilience, and policy reforms.
Debate proceedings
Participants presented arguments on how rising tariffs and trade wars among major economies are reshaping global value chains, affecting growth, and potentially reversing decades of globalization.They also assessed India’s readiness by discussing factors such as diversification of export markets, domestic manufacturing strength, trade agreements, and the capacity to turn trade tensions into opportunities for India’s economy.
Judgement criteria
Students were evaluated on four main parameters:
– Content – depth, accuracy, and economic reasoning in their arguments.
– Presentation – clarity of speech, confidence, and structured delivery.
– Memorization – command over material without over-reliance on notes.
– Value addition – inclusion of current data, contemporary examples of tariff wars, and insightful connections to India’s policy framework and global position.
Outcome
After a closely contested series of arguments and rebuttals, Daksh Lalit Kumar of XI I and Sakshi Bansal of XI E were declared the winners of the competition for their strong content, persuasive presentation, and effective use of value-adding insights on the topic. The event successfully fostered economic awareness among students and highlighted the relevance of tariff wars and de-globalization for India’s future policy choices.

The Commerce Department organized a dynamic and inspiring Business Plan Competition on 3rd September,2024 under the theme “Entrepreneur in the Making.” This competition was conceived to promote entrepreneurial spirit among students and inspire them to develop innovative business ideas. The event aimed to encourage participants to create comprehensive business plans that could lead them on a path to become successful entrepreneurs. A total of 9 teams consisting of students from class XI and XII presented their business ideas on stage .Each team got the opportunity to showcase their entrepreneurial prowess and compete for top honors.
The competition was judged by a panel of 4 judges.They assessed the teams based on the following criteria:
1.Innovation: The uniqueness and creativity of the business concept.
2.Feasibility: The practicality and viability of the business plan in real-world scenarios.
3.Market Analysis: The depth and insightfulness of market research, as well as the understanding of target demographics.
4.Financial Viability: The soundness of financial projections, revenue models, and funding strategies.
5.Presentation Skills: The clarity, professionalism, and persuasiveness of the team’s presentation.

After rigorous evaluations and thoughtful deliberations, the following teams emerged as the winners of the “Entrepreneur in the Making” Business Plan Competition:

Product that specializes in detecting and extinguishing fires.
Ecombat: Inter House Economics debate
An inter house Economics debate was organised for classes 9 to 12 during the Commerce week. The objective of the competition was
- To create awareness among the students regarding the relevance and application of economics in all our actions and decisions including decisions taken by the government.
- To enable them to comprehend the economic consequences of all our routine decisions.
- To help them analyse the pros and cons of various types of economic activities.
The topics of debate for the 4 classes were

- There were two participants from each house; one in favour of the motion and one against it, at each level making it a total of 32 participants across all classes and all four houses. However the opponents were picked on a random basis at the time of competition to make the debate more interesting and competitive.
- There were two rounds in the debate for each class:
Round I: The two opponents had to express their views in favour of or against the motion for 3-4 minutes
Round II: The opponents had to engage in a rebuttal of each other’s arguments for 1 minute each.
The participants were judged on the basis of their
- Content: How well researched the topic was
- Presentation: How well the participant was able to articulate his/her content
- Creativity: The uniqueness of content and value additions
- Rebuttal: The accuracy and depth of counter arguments
All participants were very well prepared and competitive. It was really a well contested and an engaging event.

A Business Plan Competition was organised on 29th August, 2023 for the students of Class XI and XII to provide them a forum outside the classroom where they can develop skills in “pitching” their business idea. The event was committed to foster and support the Entrepreneurial essence and skills of students. A Total of 7 teams presented their business idea on stage and were appreciated by the judges for their novelty of ideas and thoroughness in preparation.The result of the event was as follows:
I Prize – Silver Wisdom Team – They presented an application that connects individuals seeking guidance and support with experienced elderly volunteers who offer caregiving and counselling services.
II Prize – Trekkerz – Their presentation included a portable tent with in-built solar panels providing all essential things in the kit like foldable trekking stick, mobile charging points, portable gas stove, electric kettle etc., fulfilling all the needs of a traveller and explorer.
III Prize- Wilectrotech – They displayed a new technology which converts wind energy to electrical energy which will help to reduce the consumption of fuel that is used by air conditioners, headlights and tail lights of cars.
