“ONE LEARN FROM BOOKS AND EXAMPLE, ONLY THAT CERTAIN THINGS CAN BE DONE. ACTUAL LEARNING REQUIRES THAT YOU DO THOSE THINGS.”
– Frank Herbert
Education is not only learning facts but training of minds to think. When we are having a good time, learning becomes easy and not a strenuous task. To make learning a joyous experience, Social Studies Week was observed in our school in the month of January for classes IV to IX.
The classroom became a hive of active learning with ardent students participating in an array of activities undertaken for classes IV-IX.
The details of the activities are as follows:
All students participated in the quiz and showed how aware they are of their national geographical heritage.
Interesting Quiz sessions were conducted for classes VII-IX, wherein their knowledge was put to test. It was a way to demonstrate how the learning of social science can be enjoyable, exploratory and enabled the students to think critically and apply what they have learned so far.
An Exhibition was organized on different burning topics:
IV – Mega Cities of the World
V – Forms of Government
VI – Indices and Rankings of different countries
VII – Political Parties of the world
VIII – Comparison between the countries on the basis of Resources
IX – Innovation Hub, Climate Change and Water Resources Management
The success of week marked how Social Studies can help in raising the awareness of students about issues related to their daily lives as well as the vast diversity of the world. It is important that today’s child must embrace this diversity so as to make this world a better place to live in.
